Wright City Middle School Counselor's Corner
Wright City R-II School District
Thank you for taking the time to visit the website. My name is Katie Row, and I am the counselor for the 2013-2014 school year. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tulsa and earned my Master of Arts degree from Lindenwood University. I am thrilled to continue my counseling career in such a welcoming community!
My role as the counselor is to address the issues interfering with students' personal, social, emotional, academic, and career development. I utilize the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program to provide services to all students. Services include, but are not limited to, social, career, and academic counseling in individual and small group settings, classroom guidance activities, consultation with teachers, collaboration with community resources, implementing intervention strategies, and parent support and education.
Please look around the website to find helpful links and important information. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me in the counseling office: 636-745-7300 or [email protected].

Praise From the Critics
The following is a review taken from a Seventh Grade journalist's interview for the WCMS newspaper.
" Counselor's Corner: The Inside Story...
Most of you may know who Mrs. Row is. But for those of you who don't, she is the most fun, most ecstatic person with a tremendous attitude. In other words she's our counselor.
It all started when she was a senior in college. She liked helping people and having fun so she decided being a counselor was the right job for her.
Students come into her office almost all the time. Though she doesn't mind she loves it! That's why she has an "Open Door Policy". I guess that's why this school is slowly coming together. Like a puzzle, every piece has its place. She is only in her office 75% of the time. The other 25% she is in the hallways causing shenanigans, that's what makes her so fun.
The main problem students talk to her about is bullying, but she says the bullying problem in Wright City Middle School is getting better, in fact it isn't much of a problem anymore thanks to CE (Character Education).
Character Education, CE, is a program that helps students build a sense of community. It happens weekly (every Wednesday). Students from each grade come together in a classroom and do character building activities.
Have you heard of the MCG (Missouri Comprehensive Guidance program)? That is what counselor's, Like Mrs. Row, follow to divide their time. She says that no one at this age has gained full confidence and complete self esteem because we still have our whole life ahead of us. But that doesn't stop her from trying.
But just remember, "Be who you are and say what you mean because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." (Dr. Seuss) To me Mrs. Row is one that matters because she just doesn't mind. "
